This Page Is For People Who Are Re-Upholstering
You need full hides. That’s what we sell.
Upholstery Leather Built for Furniture — Not Tooling
There are many types of leather out there, picking the right kind is important. We are located in High Point, NC which still claims the title of the "Furniture Capital of the world".
Upholstery leather is mostly top grain which means most of the imperfections have been removed. It is soft and flexible, making it the perfect solution for furniture.
Where we get our leather: Most of it comes from high end furniture manufacturers. They may buy 500 hides for a furniture line. If the hides produce more furniture than they estimated or the line does not sell, we buy what is left over, at a discount.
That's good and bad. The good news first: We sell at 50% less than what you can find in most other stores. We also get a bigger variety of colors as most companies stock selected colors and then keep those colors in stock.
The bad news: Since our colors are constantly changing we cannot guarantee that if you come back next week or next year and want the same color, that we will have it in stock. To help compensate for this we do offer a 30 day return policy (you pay for shipping), so if you order too many you can return the unused hides.
Buy More. Save More.
If you’re doing a full piece, you’ll likely need more than one hide. See below to determine how many hides you need.
-
Buy 2 hides – Save 7%
-
Buy 5 hides – Save 10%
-
Buy 10 hides – Save 15%
If you’re redoing a sectional, that discount adds up quickly.
What New Leather Can Do
If the frame is still solid, replace the leather and you add another 10–15 years to the life of the piece. That’s cheaper than buying new furniture — and often better quality.
How much leather do you need? Use our Calculator below.
How This Estimate Works
-
Based on 36 sq ft hides. Actual hide size and yield can vary.
-
Leather is irregular, not a perfect rectangle.
-
This is a planning estimate only — final hide count may change based on design details.
-
Complexity settings include built-in coverage and waste factors for seams, layout, and cutting.
Sofa / Chair / Ottoman
-
Calculated using overall outside dimensions (box method).
-
Complexity adjusts for panel count and detail level.
-
Does not automatically account for sectionals, sleepers, skirts, heavy welting, tufting, channeling, or specialty layouts.
Cushions Only
-
Based on top + bottom + boxing band with built-in seam allowance.
-
Assumes simple boxed cushions.
-
Special shapes, piping, or separate back cushions may require more leather.
Important
If your result is close (example: 2.1 hides), round up. For a more accurate estimate, send measurements and 2 photos (front and side) and we’ll confirm before you purchase.
