Full-size top grain leather hides at an unbeatable price.
At 36–48 square feet per hide on average, these are full top grain leather upholstery hides. Similar full hides regularly sell for $225 and up.
Why Choose a Full Hide Instead of Scrap?
Scrap leather has its place, and we sell a lot of it, but given the pricing on these hides, you might want to consider buying a full hide. You get:
- 100% usable leather.
- One consistent color of your choosing.
- Ability to make larger pieces or more of the same item.
- You’ll have more of your favorite color for your projects.
- The pricing is only 20%-30% more than buying leather remnants.

Color & Matching Information
We currently stock multiple hides in the same color. If you order more than one hide, we will select hides from the same color group whenever possible.
Slight shade variation may occur between dye lots. This is normal in genuine leather. For larger projects, order all needed hides at the same time to ensure the closest match.
NOTE: If you are buying a hide to repair an existing piece of furniture it is IMPOSSIBLE. Sorry for the bad news. There are thousands of tanneries around the world, each with different colors and age causes the leather to change color.
Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly is “top grain” leather?
Top grain leather is the standard used in most quality upholstered furniture. It offers durability, flexibility, and a consistent surface finish while still retaining the strength of genuine leather.
It’s ideal for furniture, bags, wallets, and leathercraft projects that require both durability and workability.
Are these full hides or partial pieces?
These are full hides, not half hides or pre-cut panels. Each hide ranges from 36–56 square feet and has a natural, irregular shape.
Why do some hides online appear cheaper?
Many lower-priced listings are for smaller hides (12–15 sq ft), half hides (20–25 sq ft), or pre-cut pieces sold by the square foot.
When you compare full hide to full hide in this size range, prices commonly run $225 and up elsewhere.
Will multiple hides match in color?
We stock multiple hides in the same color.
If you order more than one hide, we will select from the same color group whenever possible. Slight shade variation can occur between production batches or dye lots — this is normal in real leather.
For larger projects, we recommend ordering all required hides at the same time.
What thickness is 2–5 oz in millimeters?
2–5 oz leather is approximately .8 to 2.0 mm thick (1/32 to 3/16")
This weight works well for upholstery, panels, structured bags, aprons, and many leathercraft applications.
